Bloomin’ Hope

FLOWER CART & VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Bloomin’ Hope flower cart provides women from both our shelter & transitional housing program a real sense of purpose as well as vocational skills, helping them on their path to self-sufficiency.

Purpose. Belonging. Community.

Bloomin’ Hope is designed to help individuals learn the soft skills of floristry by arranging and seling flowers for our flower cart, or special events. This program provides opportunities to learn vocational skills, explore creativity, and develop a real sense of purpose and belonging in our community.

Inspired by our Director of Services, Shelly Watson, the Bloomin’ Hope flower cart became a reality in April 2013. A generous donation that included the construction of the flower cart by Soroptomist made this dream a reality.

One of the central efforts of the Bloomin’ Hope is to give people a sense of “purpose”. By providing an opportunity for the participants at the Jesus Center to develop vocational skills, they start on their path to self-sufficiency. Participants become engaged with the flower cart for several reasons, and get a multitude of things from their involvement.

A participants recently described her Bloomin’ Hope experience like this:

“You feel good when you create something, when you have something. It gives me an inspiration to do something, and it gives me happy thoughts!”
